I. NONDISCRIMINATION
A. As a recipient of Federal financial assistance, Rutherford Regional Health System does not exclude, deny benefits to, or otherwise discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, or age in admission to, participation in, or receipt of the services and benefits under any of its programs and activities, whether carried out by Rutherford Regional Health System directly or through a contractor or any other entity with which Rutherford Regional Health System arranges to carry out its programs and activities.
B. AGE RESTRICTIONS STATEMENT
It is the policy of Rutherford Regional Health System to not deny or restrict access to services based on an individual’s age (unless age is a factor necessary to normal operations or the achievement of any statutory objective).

Patient Rights and Responsibilities
Policy
Rutherford Regional Health System recognizes that the patient seeking care at a health care institution has certain basic rights. Through the cooperation of the patient, the patient's family and the staff of Rutherford Regional Medical Center, these basic rights can be observed and protected. Rutherford Regional Health System will continually strive to foster an atmosphere for the patient which is imbued with the sense of service, of compassion and understanding. To this end, the following patient's rights shall be observed.
Rights and Responsibilities of Parents and Guardians of Pediatric Patients
Course of Treatment
Parents and guardians have the right and responsibility to participate in the treatment process. The treatment process includes planning the course of treatment, remaining informed of the progress of treatment, and physically participating in the delivery of certain types of care and treatment. Parents and guardians have the responsibility to ensure that their child follows the agreed upon course of treatment.
School/Activities
Each minor patient has the right to attend school, take part in recreational and outdoor activities, and receive help in letter-writing and making telephone calls, except when restricted for therapeutic reasons.
